Streaming titan Netflix serves up a cheeky teaser for its upcoming Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft animated series.

Netflix's Tomb Raider and Lara's Animated Antics

Here's the gist, Netflix in its ever-expanding content empire, announced back in 2021 that it was going to add another feather to its cap: an animated series featuring everyone's favorite square-jawed, treasure-hunting, archaeological poster girl, Lara Croft. The twist to the tale: Hayley Atwell, name ring a bell? Grace from this year's Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning, Peggy Carter from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), she's the one picked for some vocal gymnastics, as she will be voicing Lara in this animated joyride.

Now, with the pomp and circumstance associated with the world's largest streaming giant, along comes our first sneak peek at the series, aptly named Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft. Keen to keep the suspense as suspenseful as possible, Netflix remains slightly mysterious about the series release date, instead opting to tantalize with a simple 'coming soon'. So, grab your popcorn and dive into the teaser below:

So, what's the catch you may ask? Well, the Lara living in this cartoon universe seems to mirror the one we are familiar with from the Crystal Dynamics' Tomb Raider reboot trilogy, which put its 'closed' sign up in 2018 with the release of Shadow of the Tomb Raider. When Netflix spilled the beans about Atwell joining the line-up last year, they assured fans that this series would pick up where the last left off. Judging from the teaser, it's as clear as mud whether that will actually be the case. But fear not, the wait (thankfully) shouldn't be a long one since the Legend of Lara Croft is scripted to dock on Netflix anytime soon.

Whilst you're twiddling your thumbs in anticipation, why not pass some time with the teaser for Netflix's other animated venture, the Devil May Cry anime series? And, in gaming news for all the Lara Croft aficionados, the first three PlayStation 1 Tomb Raider games are set to get the remastered treatment next year.

Whether you're eager to strap on your virtual archaeologist hat and navigate to the front of the queues to be a part of Lara's next adventure, or if you're indifferent to the prospect of having another animated series in your watchlist remains to be seen. But one thing is certain, Netflix is hoping that this project strikes a chord with audiences worldwide. Now, over to you for some pop-corn and the beginning of a new binge-watch saga!
