Basim’s lightning-fast skills are proving too high-tech for the game’s Animus, triggering intentional glitches in this fun and enthralling Assassin’s Creed episode.

Basim Breaks Assassin's Creed Mirage with His Elite Skills

Has Assassin’s Creed hero, Basim become so majestically nimble that the poor Animus can't handle his finesse? Looks like our resident covert operator has been having too many stealth Wheaties for breakfast, because his suave skills have started glitching the Animus in Assassin's Creed Mirage.

As GameInformer’s Wesley LeBlanc was kind enough to share on Twitter, there's more to this bewitching blink of an eye "glitch" in Basim's special move than meets the (wandering) eye. If you're not familiar with the move, let me set the scene: picture Basim in all his unflappable cool, launching into an attack where he whirls and twirls from enemy to enemy, knocking them over like dominoes. Everything literally slows down, with the world entering an awe-inspiring glitching freeze frame.

Here’s the dramatic twist - it’s not a bug, it’s a feature. (Alright, calm down, gamers; we hear you groaning). However, as per The Washington Post’s Gene Park, this glitching phenomenon did pique some interest. And cue the benefits of Twitter, as Park posted some glorious footage of the bewitching move, accompanied by the decidedly nonchalant caption: "AC Mirage special move is so stupid but I love it?” An emotional rollercoaster, truly.

LeBlanc - the helpful soul that he is, responded to Park, spilling the tea. According to Ubisoft Bordeaux, the fun-and-cool choreography isn't solely for aesthetics. In the game's lore, Basim's unmatched speed and efficiency cause the Animus to chug, leading to an impressive glitch effect. Talk about a system failure!

Opinions about Assassin's Creed Mirage's special move seem to swirl around the "befuddlingly delight" part of the spectrum. On one side, we have lovers of the game appreciating the visual spectacle, and on the other, skeptics, likening it to the Shadow Strike move from Shadow of Mordor - which, honestly, is probably a compliment.

Assassin's Creed Mirage, despite being just a week old in the grand scheme of gaming, has fans gasping for air, and calling for more stealth-based adventures. The good news is, Ubisoft has a smorgasbord of titles lined-up, including Assassin’s Creed Red, Assassin's Creed Hexe, Assassin's Creed Jade, and more. So, be ready to flex those stealth muscles as we delve deep into the wonderful world of Assassin's Creed.
