The anticipation for the new release in the much-loved horror series, Little Nightmares, is surging with the developer, Supermassive Games, providing an expanded preview of the pre-alpha gameplay. Titled "Little Nightmares III", the video game will continue its tradition of expertly blending horror, puzzles, platforming, and adventure mechanics. The scheduled release is expected sometime in 2024 for PlayStation 5 (PS5) and PlayStation 4 (PS4).
In a surprising unveiling, the company has released an extensive look at the game's cooperative mechanics. This 18-minute preview features the game developers at Supermassive Games, also known for their work on Until Dawn and Dark Pictures, as they narrate and demonstrate the game's cooperative mode. This is a first for the series, enabling players to navigate their way through the game together.
In the shared video, players can watch as two characters, aptly named Low and Alone, traverse their way through a gloomy cityscape known as "The Necropolis". The game description explains the premise of this journey: "Join Low and Alone as they attempt to face the many hidden hazards of the Necropolis. They'll need to creep carefully, though… No one gets to toddle through Monster Baby's playground without a little game of hide and seek".
In this pre-alpha build of Little Nightmares III, the co-op mode demonstrates how two players would cooperatively guide their characters through a perilous journey. As they creep through narrow backstreets and alleyways of the Necropolis, they are challenged with numerous threats that they must skillfully navigate, adding a new layer of complexity to the gameplay.
Fans of the previous games can clearly see familiar elements they love about the Little Nightmares series in this demonstration yet will find fresh excitement in the introduction of the cooperative mode - a first in the series.
