Ever since he made a decision to resume acting, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) topped the wish list of actor Ke Huy Quan. The star took up the role of OB in the second season of 'Loki'. However, his first encounter with the Marvel universe wasn't this stint, but a role as an assistant fight choreographer for the 2000's 'X-Men' movie. This was where he first crossed paths with Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige.
Discussing his experience with Deadline, Quan joyfully stated how warmly he was welcomed into the MCU. Recounting the moment Feige invited him to be a part of the MCU, Quan said, "I was driving. I picked up the phone and there was Feige on the other end." He continued telling the story of Feige's praise for 'Everything Everywhere All at Once' and the warm invitation to join the 'MCU family'.
Quan vividly remembered being overwhelmed with emotion, to the point he had to pull his car over to regain his composure. "Feige went on," Quan recalled, "and said they had an amazing character, Ouroboros, in store for me." Feige had expressed that they thought Quan would be perfect for the role and shared enthusiastic details about 'Loki' and the MCU project's in the pipeline.
The memory also ushered Quan back to the initial days on the set of 'X-Men', when he and Feige were merely an assistant action choreographer and an associate producer respectively. Quan was in awe of Feige's immense knowledge and passion for the MCU world. He cherished the fact that nearly 23 years later, he was given a chance to play a fascinating character and collaborate again with Feige.
In the same meet with Deadline, Quan expressed a surprising level of disappointment. It was not due to any setbacks, but the fact that 'Loki' season 2 required no reshoots. For Quan, reshoots would have meant extra time in a universe he loved and in a role that was at the top of his wish list.
