The latest Evercade cartridges will feature iconic games from Data East and Toaplan, including Edward Randy and Batsugun, set to launch with the Evercade Alpha.

Evercade Reveals New Game Cartridges Featuring Classic Arcades

Blaze Entertainment has just announced the imminent release of two exciting new cartridges for the Evercade platform, each packed with classic arcade games from famous developers Data East and Toaplan. These releases are timed to coincide with the launch of the Evercade Alpha bartop arcade machine this coming November.

The first of these two cartridges, named Toaplan Arcade 3, includes a variety of beloved arcade shooters, well-known for their challenging gameplay and engaging mechanics. The lineup features:

- Batsugun along with its special version

- FixEight

- Ghox

- Out Zone

- Truxton II

- Vimana

These games are notable for their high-speed action and precise control demands, making them favorites among the arcade enthusiast community. Batsugun is often credited with laying the foundational elements of the modern bullet-hell subgenre of shooters and features vertically scrolling action that will now be playable in a portable format. Truxton II, another highlight of this cartridge, is a sequel much praised for its intense gameplay and vibrant graphics.

In addition to Toaplan Arcade 3, Evercade is also launching Data East Arcade 2, which brings another set of classics from the catalog of Data East, a company known for its diverse and inventive arcade titles. This collection includes 12 games:

- B-Wings

- Crude Buster (Two Crude Dudes)

- Edward Randy (The Cliffhanger: Edward Randy)

- Express Raider

- Joe & Mac Returns

- Last Mission

- Midnight Resistance

- Peter Pepper’s Ice Cream Factory

- Shoot Out

- SRD: Super Real Darwin

- Super BurgerTime

- Trio The Punch: Never Forget Me...

Among these, Edward Randy stands out as a notably ambitious arcade game that had never before been ported to a home system. Known for its advanced graphics and cinematic style during the arcade era, Edward Randy offers a compelling adventure experience, layering platforming elements with fast-paced action.

Similarly, Super BurgerTime and Midnight Resistance are titles that have cemented their place in the arcade gaming hall of fame. Super BurgerTime is an evolution of the original BurgerTime, offering more complex levels and increased player options, while Midnight Resistance is renowned for its run-and-gun gameplay and was a staple in many 90s arcades.

The launch of these cartridges will also mark the debut of the Evercade Alpha, a new bartop arcade machine by Blaze, which aims to provide an authentic arcade experience in a compact form. This product promises to appeal to both nostalgic older gamers and newer audiences who might not have experienced these games in their original arcade format.

Pre-orders for the cartridges and the Evercade Alpha machine are set to open on September 26, 2024, providing enthusiasts and collectors an opportunity to secure their copies ahead of the official release.

The introduction of these collections continues Evercade’s trend of preserving and celebrating the history of video games by bringing classic titles back into circulation through their unique cartridge-based system. Each game included in these collections has been carefully selected to represent the best of what each arcade giant, Data East and Toaplan, offered during the height of arcade gaming popularity.

For fans of arcade games, the upcoming release of these cartridges represents not just a trip down memory lane, but also the preservation of gaming heritage, making legendary games accessible in modern formats. Evercade’s efforts in this regard have not only provided a platform for these games to be enjoyed anew but also introduce them to a new generation of gamers looking to experience the roots of modern video gaming. This initiative by Evercade ensures these classic gems are not lost to time, but instead continue to be part of the global gaming culture.
