The first patch for Dragon Age: The Veilguard on Xbox Series X|S includes a special Mass Effect crossover with an N7 Day armor set, alongside major bug fixes and enhancements aimed at improving gameplay experience.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard Gets Exciting First Update

Dragon Age: The Veilguard, the latest RPG from BioWare, has been in the hands of players for just over a week and has already received its first significant update on the Xbox Series X|S platform. This update is not just any routine patch—it introduces an exciting crossover with BioWare's other beloved series, Mass Effect, in celebration of N7 Day. This homage includes a new armor set that injects a bit of Mass Effect’s futuristic vibe into the fantasy world of Dragon Age.

The update, which players will need to download, contains a special N7 Day themed armor set, available in-game. To find this armor, players need to head to the Lighthouse after patching their game and look for a chest that appears only after completing the Harding Mission "The Singing Blade." This new addition is purely cosmetic but offers fans a unique way to blend the aesthetics of two of BioWare’s most popular franchises.

Beyond the thematic armor set, the patch introduces a slew of bug fixes and gameplay improvements aimed at enhancing the overall player experience. One of the critical fixes addresses a glitch where DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) options would appear "grayed-out" on 40-series Nvidia GPUs. This fix, however, is exclusively beneficial to PC players, alongside other PC-specific updates such as an updated XeSS version to 1.3.1, and stabilization improvements that have eliminated causes for several crashes.

The update also focuses on enhancing the player's interaction with the game world and its characters. It resolves an issue where some customizations weren’t applied correctly to the Inquisitor in one of the game’s ending scenes. Companion Skill Points and Companion Approval notifications have been adjusted too. The notifications will now stay on-screen longer to provide better feedback to players as scenes wrap up.

The creators also worked on the game’s audio-visual elements. Several assets have been updated to improve visual performance across long distances, collision has been added to some previously non-interactive assets, and minor texture issues with codex art have been addressed. On the audio side, lip sync for ambient scenes and the audio balance for several assets have been tweaked, enhancing the overall immersive experience.

Moreover, the update makes substantial gameplay adjustments, such as fixing a bug that caused repeated banter between characters Harding and Taash. Various objective markers that were previously spawning incorrectly have been fixed, reducing confusion during quests. The update also corrects creepy corpse movements, ensures a Dalish elf appears correctly in a specific quest, and makes several “quality of life” improvements to UI elements, such as more readable detailed-stats screens and proper functionality in the game’s journal and map interface.

For players who engage deeply in combat, the patch brings balance changes to several fights, aligning them better with the design intent and adjusting the behavior of certain player skills and major encounter leashing exploits. These tweaks aim to provide a fair challenge and reward strategic gameplay planning.

This comprehensive first update signifies BioWare’s commitment to refining Dragon Age: The Veilguard post-launch, listening to community feedback, and ensuring that players have a smooth and enjoyable experience as they dive deeper into the intricacies of its expansive world. As players don their new N7 armor and revisit the visually enhanced and more stable game environment, they can look forward to a more immersive and engaging adventure in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
