Blockbuster gaming sensation, Cyberpunk 2077 gets a live-action spin-off from the maestros behind True Detective, Mr. Robot, and The Revenant. Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Or a series? Guess we gotta wait and watch.

Cyberpunk 2077: Cops to Swap Pixelated World for Live-Action

Societal expectations just went into overdrive as gaming powerhouse, Cyberpunk 2077 is the new kid on the real-life TV block. Masterminds from True Detective, Mr. Robot, and The Revenant are playing their part in this thrilling venture. Part of this plot-thickening saga are Anonymous Content and CD PROJEKT RED, although salient details of the plot are as secretive as the Colonel's eleven herbs and spices recipe - at least for now.

But for those worried about the transition from game to real-life, keep that controller down. The new project is not a carbon copy of our beloved game but a brand spanking "new story" set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077 (faints). Thus far, solitary whispers hint at the project being in its early stage. Also somewhere, someone is on the hunt for a screenwriter. Is that you, Spielberg? We kid, we kid.

As to whether we'll be cuddling up with popcorn for a Cyberpunk 2077 movie night or setting reminders for a TV series is still up for debate. But don't overcrowd the rumor mill, people. CD PROJEKT RED is reportedly joined at the hip with television honcho from Anonymous Content, Garret Kemble.

Interest piqued much? Wait till you hear that David Levine - the brain behind HBO's powerhouse series like True Detective, Westworld, True Blood, and the early seasons of Game of Thrones (we're not worthy) - is also on board this project.

Rest easy, die-hard fans! The original curators of Cyberpunk 2077 are very much aboard this new venture, thereby oozing hopes of a seamless transition from the virtual universe to the live-action dimension.

Night City dwellers will soon get a chance to kick back and enjoy this neon-drenched, immersive experience. Although it's like asking the unicorn when the live-action saga is planned for release. All we can deduce, based on the current status, is...not yet!

This new project is sprouting from the fertile grounds of HBO's The Last of Us, and we're hoping it follows suit to become yet another testament of successful video game adaptations.
