The Last Taxi is one of the longer optional pursuits in Control Resonant, sending players across Manhattan to locate seven unusual taxis. Each cab acts as a doorway to a surreal, darkened version of New York, where a payphone conversation with Mila begins a sequence of taxi-selection puzzles.
The basic rule sounds simple: find the one taxi that is behaving differently, then enter it. In practice, the difference may be a blinking roof sign, a strange engine sound, an out-of-sync streetlight, a missing car part, or even an impossible shadow. Every taxi location contains three rounds, and clearing all three returns the player to the regular map.
The taxis can be tackled in any order despite their regional labels. Finishing all seven completes The Last Taxi side quest. At present, there does not appear to be a confirmed reward or follow-up sequence beyond quest completion, so players mainly undertaking the task for completion progress can focus on solving its environmental riddles efficiently.
How The Last Taxi works
When approaching one of the hidden taxis, look and listen carefully. Its horn can be heard honking nearby, while its lights flash to make it easier to identify at close range. Once discovered, the cab should also become visible on the minimap and full in-game map, making repeat visits or final navigation less troublesome.

Interacting with the open taxi door transports you to the puzzle space. Follow the marker through the shadowy streets to a back alley and answer Mila's payphone. The street ahead then becomes the testing ground for three successive challenges.
Most rounds ask players to inspect several taxis and enter the odd one out. A correct choice triggers a green-light cinematic, while an incorrect pick gives a red-light result before moving on to another puzzle. The Park sequence is the major exception, as it requires repairing and assembling a cab rather than simply selecting one.
All seven taxi locations
There is one Last Taxi cab in each major region. They are commonly tucked away from obvious checkpoints and, in several cases, away from regular combat routes. Use the honking horn and flashing lights as the final clues when the map description gets you close.
- Downtown: At the north end of a road, sitting amid a traffic jam.
- Central: Behind a warehouse.
- Evacuation Zone: In a dead end between buildings. Hiss Spikes and lasers make this approach hazardous.
- West Incursion Zone: On the route toward the Theater, positioned on a gravity wall near Empire Avenue station.
- The Park: On the top level of a car park that can be entered from ground level.
- Underpass: After taking the Cable Car, travel north from the area labeled "Research Site... Again."
- Unknown: On the southernmost island, west of the Evac Building, on an otherwise empty section of road.
Downtown taxi puzzle answers
The Downtown set relies on sound and roof-sign behavior. This is a good reminder that not every clue is visual: the first correct cab is identified by its indicator noise rather than by a particularly dramatic lighting difference.
- Find the taxi making the ticking indicator sound. Only one cab produces the repeated turn-signal-style tick. Enter that taxi.
- Find the taxi whose roof sign stays illuminated as you approach. The other rooftop signs turn off at close range.
- Find the taxi whose roof sign turns off only when you approach it. In this round, the behavior is reversed: identify the one that reacts to your proximity.
Central taxi puzzle answers
Central offers one of the most direct versions of the Last Taxi format. Watch which vehicle is actually powered up, then check the combinations of lights as the stages progress.
- Enter the only taxi with its engine running and lights on.
- Enter the only taxi with an illuminated rooftop sign.
- Enter the taxi with its roof sign, headlights, and rear brake lights all lit simultaneously.
Because the final round requires several lights at once, walk around the cabs if necessary. The rear lights matter just as much as the headlights and roof marker.
Evacuation Zone taxi puzzle answers
The Evacuation Zone challenges are all about timing. Rather than looking only for whether a taxi is lit, compare the rhythm of each vehicle's flashes. This location can be dangerous to reach due to the nearby Hiss Spikes and lasers, but the puzzle itself is a matter of patience and observation.
- Choose the taxi flashing off-beat. Most lights pulse together; one is out of step.
- Choose the taxi that flashes multiple times in a row. The others flash once in sequence, while the correct cab breaks the pattern with repeated flashes.
- Choose the taxi that never flashes. Amid the erratic lights, one remains dark throughout.
West Incursion Zone taxi puzzle answers
In West Incursion Zone, stop studying the cars first and look above them. The identifying clue is provided by the streetlight assigned to each taxi.
- Enter the taxi beneath the only blinking streetlight.
- Enter the taxi beneath the streetlight that stays on continuously. Every other streetlight blinks during this stage.
- Enter the taxi beneath the off-beat streetlight. All lamps flash here, but only one is unsynchronized with the rest.
The visual arrangement can make these rounds feel confusing when several lamps are active, so take a few full cycles to confirm which streetlight is truly different before committing.
The Park taxi puzzle answers
The Park turns the taxi challenge into a repair task involving Mold and scattered vehicle components. The goal remains getting a functioning taxi, but selecting a ready-made cab is no longer enough. Clear the relevant growths, collect the right pieces, and attach them to the vehicle.
- Repair the taxi with the hood and trunk. Break open the gray Mold growths to retrieve the required parts.
- Install two wheels and the yellow hood. Explosive Mold clumps complicate the search. Two hoods are available, one yellow and one blue; the yellow hood is the correct piece.
- Destroy the gray Mold connected to the taxi by gray threads, then assemble the correct parts. If those linked growths remain, the Mold on the car continues regenerating. The needed components are a wheel protector, rear bumper, hood, and taxi roof sign.
Some parts lying around this final stage are decoys. Incorrect items may be set beside the car or look visibly wrong compared with the components used earlier, so use the model and color match as a practical check.
Underpass taxi puzzle answers
The Underpass sequence combines taxi lights with the overhead streetlights. The solution depends on noticing which car changes state--or refuses to match the streetlight state--when the surrounding lights go dark.
- When the streetlights shut off, enter the one taxi whose lights are on.
- When the streetlights shut off, enter the one taxi whose lights are off.
- Enter the taxi whose lights are off until the streetlights go out. This car and its streetlight are never illuminated at the same time.
The third round is the most conceptually unusual one. Do not look for a car that is merely on or off at a single moment; watch the relationship between its lights and the streetlight over a full transition.
Unknown taxi puzzle answers
The final taxi in Unknown uses shadows that do not obey normal logic. Pick up the available light source and inspect the silhouettes cast by every taxi. More vehicles appear in the second stage, including cabs parked across the road, so make sure the search area is fully checked.
- Enter the only taxi casting a taxi-shaped shadow. The other cars project incorrect shapes, such as the silhouette of industrial machinery.
- Enter the taxi whose shadow includes its rooftop sign. At this point, all visible shadows resemble taxis, but only one also shows the sign on the roof.
Once the Unknown challenge is cleared, every Last Taxi location and puzzle sequence has been completed. If the quest does not seem to provide a tangible item afterward, that appears to be normal: the side quest can close without an obvious additional reward or continuation.
Quick checklist for finishing The Last Taxi
- Locate taxis in Downtown, Central, Evacuation Zone, West Incursion Zone, The Park, Underpass, and Unknown.
- Use horns, flashing lights, and map markers to narrow down each cab's position.
- Speak to Mila at the payphone after entering each taxi dimension.
- Complete three rounds per location, using green light as confirmation of a correct answer.
- For The Park, repair the car with the specified pieces instead of searching for an odd taxi.
- For Unknown, use the portable light to reveal the shadow clues.
With all seven sites complete, The Last Taxi is resolved. Its puzzles are varied enough to reward careful observation, but their logic is consistent: pause, identify the one broken pattern, and take the cab that does not belong.
