RPG enthusiasts and fans of the Ys series have a big reason to rejoice. XSEED Games has officially confirmed the Western release date for the eagerly awaited 'Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana.' Scheduled for launch on January 7, 2025, this title will be available on the Nintendo Switch through the eShop. This announcement comes after the game's debut in Japan in April 2023, where it was introduced as a modern reimagining of the beloved 2010 PSP game.
'Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana' brings players back to the enchanting yet troubled land of Felghana. Players take on the role of Adol Christin, a red-haired hero known across the Ys series. Adol finds Felghana overwhelmed by rogue elements, monsters, and natural calamities upon his arrival. Determined to help the locals, Adol embarks on an adventurous quest where he confronts a corrupt landlord exploiting the region's distress.
This remaster isn't just a straightforward facelift. It introduces several enhancements and new features that are set to redefine the player's experience. Among these are added difficulty settings, which cater to both newcomers and seasoned gamers seeking a challenge. A Turbo mode accelerates the gameplay, making grinding and exploration quicker and more fluid.
A significant update comes in the graphical and audio presentation. 'Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana' features newly designed "Refined" illustrations which give the game's characters a fresh look. However, purists can switch back to "Classic" visuals any time they wish, ensuring that the nostalgia remains untouched. The protagonist, Adol Christin, traditionally silent in his earlier adventures, now comes to life with a full voiceover, enriching the narrative depth. The game’s soundtrack, celebrated for its original composition, returns in three versions—Original, PC-8801, and X68000—all remastered for high-quality audio delivery.
To cater to collectors and dedicated fans, XSEED Games is also releasing a 'Refined Edition' of the game. This physical edition includes an acrylic diorama, a CD soundtrack, a microfiber cloth, and a set of postcards.
