Western Release for RIKI 8Bit Game Collection on Switch

Nintendo Switch players have a reason to be excited as the RIKI 8Bit Game Collection is set to make its Western debut. Courtesy of Clear River Games, this collection will be bringing a nostalgic journey through five classic-style games by Japanese artist and game developer RIKI, along with three interactive chiptune albums. As announced, the collection's launch in the Western markets will coincide with its release in Japan on November 28th, 2024.

The collection will be available for digital download via the Nintendo Switch eShop for a price of €19.99 or $19.99. For those who prefer physical editions, Clear River Games has planned a release early in the following year, priced at €39.99 or $39.99. While the Western physical release won't be as comprehensive as its Japanese counterpart, lacking items like a fan book or a desk pad, it will still include a bonus soundtrack CD.

Games included in the RIKI 8Bit Game Collection feature a range of genres and styles reminiscent of the NES/Famicom era, emphasizing not only gameplay but also musical artistry. Here's a closer look at what gamers can expect:

- **Kira Kira Star Night**: A jumping action game that involves navigating through beautifully designed, star-filled levels. This game is notable for its cheerful graphics and engaging gameplay, appealing to fans of classic platformers.

- **Astro Ninja Man DX**: A shoot 'em up that blends fast-paced action with retro aesthetics, offering both challenge and excitement to lovers of the genre.

- **8Bit Music Power Series**: This includes three albums - 8Bit Music Power, 8Bit Music Power Final, and 8Bit Music Power Encore. Each is an interactive chiptune album featuring music crafted by a diverse list of renowned Japanese composers. Among the contributors are Yuzo Koshiro, renowned for his work on the Streets of Rage series, and Manabu Namiki, known for his contributions to many bullet hell shooters.

The assortment of games coupled with their musical focus provides a fresh take on the 8-bit style, ensuring that each offers something unique not just in terms of gameplay but also in auditory experiences. Moreover, the collection boasts contributions from a stellar roster of composers that reads like a who's who of Japanese video game music industry, ensuring each title is accompanied by high-quality and memorable 8-bit music.

In addition to the aforementioned features, the Japanese edition includes lavish extras such as an art book, special packaging, and a desk pad underlay for the Special Edition, which sells for ¥9,900. Those who pre-order this version from clariceshop also receive a bonus cassette tape with music from 8Bit Music Power Encore.
