With the previous year drawing to a close, the Pokémon Go community is eagerly anticipating new adventures and challenges. As part of this ongoing gaming journey, Niantic, the developer behind Pokémon Go, has revealed the star of its next Community Day: Rowlet, the Grass Quill Pokémon. This event marks the beginning of the series of Community Days for 2024, providing trainers with the opportunity to catch this beloved character in abundance, including the sought-after Shiny variants.
Slated for January 6th, the event is scheduled for a three-hour window from 2:00 to 5:00 pm local time, aligning the gameplay with when trainers are most active and the Pokémon world is teeming with life. During this period, Rowlet will be seen more frequently in the wild, and those who endeavor in their Pokémon hunts may be fortunate enough to encounter a Shiny Rowlet.
An integral part of the Pokémon Go Community Days is emphasizing Pokémon evolution. For January’s Community Day, evolving Rowlet into its successive forms – Dartrix, and ultimately Decidueye – will be particularly rewarding. Those who achieve the final evolution within the event timeframe will obtain a Decidueye equipped with Frenzy Plant – a Charged Attack capable of dealing 100 damage in Trainer Battles and even more during Gym and Raid confrontations. Not only does Frenzy Plant bolster Decidueye’s offense, but it also complements the exclusive Charged Attack Spirit Shackle, a powerful move that inflicts significant damage and may reduce the attack power of opposing Pokémon.
In keeping with tradition, Community Days are packaged with an array of bonuses to enhance the gaming experience. The January event will lavish trainers with three times the normal amount of Stardust and double the amount of Candy when catching Pokémon. Moreover, for those aiming for larger and more powerful Pokémon, there is a doubled possibility of receiving Candy XL – a resource valuable for leveling Pokémon beyond level 40. Accessibility to these bonuses is further amplified as both Lure Modules and Incense will have their duration extended to three hours, echoing the event’s overall period.
The spirit of community and trading is fervently celebrated as the event allows for extra and cheaper special trades, reinforcing the social aspect of the game. Players can connect with fellow trainers to exchange rare or preferred Pokémon, fostering a sense of comradery and sharing within the community.
Once 5:00 pm arrives and the main event concludes, the festivities do not end there. An additional Bonus Raid Battle extends the excitement until 10:00 pm. Four-star raid battles put Dartrix in the spotlight, and upon triumph, Rowlet will continue to appear in the area around the gym for half an hour – a delightful extension for those who want more of the action.
The in-game store complements the event by offering special Community Day boxes or Event Bundles, with the convenience of making these purchases leading up to or during the event. These bundles typically contain a variety of useful items such as Poké Balls, Incense, and other essentials to aid trainers on their quests. Similarly, the coveted stickers, which serve as fun, in-game collectibles for personalizing gifts to friends, are available not only in the store but also at PokéStops and through opening gifts.
The Community Day rounds out as a full-fledged Pokémon celebration, seamlessly blending the hunt for rare Pokémon with the crafting of stronger teams. As trainers worldwide set out to capture Rowlet and engage in the various facets of the day's lineup, it's evident that Niantic continues to foster a vibrant and interactive world within Pokémon Go, replete with opportunities for growth, competition, and camaraderie. With the year just beginning, the January Community Day sets the tone for what promises to be another enthralling chapter in the Pokémon Go saga.
