The upcoming Hunger Games prequel, A Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, introduces a fresh-faced, somewhat poorer, and surprisingly less evil Coriolanus Snow. Oh, boy!

Rising Bad: A Baby-faced Snow in Hunger Games Prequel

If “Coriolanus Snow” rings a bell, it’s probably the sound of shivers running down your spines, as courtesy of The Hunger Games saga. But guess what? The upcoming Hunger Games prequel, A Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, is promising a drastically different face of this dreadful character. Buckle up fans, let's dive into this uncharted territory of a kinder, gentler, and, dare we say, "broke"-er Snow. Director Francis Lawrence dropped the bomb while chatting with the Total Film magazine, creating a seismic wave of fan expectations.

In the new prequel, set 64 years before the Hunger Games we all know and begrudgingly love, a young and very much broke Snow is having a swell time pretending to shower in gold. But wait, there’s more to this very unpresidential façade! Instead of sparking fear, we now have an 18-year-old Snow who’s struggling more than your wifi connection on a rainy day. His life leaps into chaos as he is assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird, a tribute from the bankrupt "District 12,” for the 10th annual Hunger Games.

Cue the drama. As the reaping ceremony commences, Lucy belts out in a song, shocking more than radio jockeys and talent scouts. Baby Snow, seeing an opportunity better than Black Friday deals, decides to pull the ropes now. What could be more exciting than mentoring an underdog from District 12, right?

Lucy's voice presents the potential for not just her survival but, bonus, Presidents Snow’s plan for spring-cleaning the grungy nature of the Games. Can we smell a mega-rebranding? With theatre, spectacles, and who knows, maybe a musical number, the Games are turning into quite the seasonal gala.

Opening on November 17, the film A Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes has an exclusive photograph of our very own Lucy and a wonderful read in the soon-to-hit-the-stand issue of Total Film on October 12.

Hey, what's that in your digital cart? The next issue of Total Film with an exclusive scoop on the film! Or maybe it's the Ridley Scott issue you preordered? Oh, and did we mention the JOBY Magnetic Wireless Charger offered with a print/bundle subscription? We are just impressed!

Sit tight for the next Games, with the countdown set for November 17. Here's looking at the previously terrifying, now adorable, baby Snow. May the odds ever be in your favour... of getting your hands on that magazine!
