Gamers share plans for the weekend, covering recent releases and beloved classics while paying tribute to a legend.

Nintendo Community Discusses Their Gaming Weekend

As another busy week comes to a wrap in the world of gaming – particularly for Nintendo enthusiasts – players are eager to discuss their gaming activities lined up for the impending weekend. Although the past days weren't as bustling as the previous week permeated by Pokémon updates, there were still a myriad of developments and releases that kept the gaming excitement alive.

The community was treated to a free demo for "Princess Peach: Showtime!", sparking anticipation and even some speculation regarding the development team behind it. A recent advertisement sparked a debate by labeling the 3DS as 'retro', sending a ripple of nostalgia and perhaps a slight shudder through the gaming community. Rumors started to swirl about potential Nintendo news that could be revealed on MAR10 Day.

The gaming industry also paused to mourn the loss of Akira Toriyama. Recognized for his creative genius behind the "Dragon Ball" series, his influence was monumental, and tributes flooded in to honor the manga legend's legacy. In terms of game reviews, opinions were published on Vanillaware's new RPG "Unicorn Overlord", which proved to be a tactical masterpiece, as well as on the exhilarating racing experience in "New Star GP" and the delightful new "Animal Crossing LEGO" sets.

Jim Norman, a staff writer, became thoroughly captivated by "Balatro", striving to master the game and break free from its addictive hold. He also considered diving back into "Pokémon X" on his 3DS to reacquaint himself with Lumiose City.

Alana Hagues, Deputy Editor, juggled multiple time-consuming titles, including the lauded "Unicorn Overlord". She expressed her enthusiasm for it and recommended it to any fans of strategy games or Vanillaware's unique style. Moreover, she admitted being enamored by "Balatro", which epitomized the compelling "just one more run" sentiment. Additionally, Alana has been delving into "Final Fantasy VII Rebirth" on her PS5, which too has a captivating card game component.

Editor Gavin Lane expressed his craving for some classic 16-bit gaming, with plans to indulge in the "Streets of Rage" series and perhaps even play some "Castle of Illusion." He humorously dismissed his growing backlog of games, choosing to prioritize old-school fun this time around.

Senior Video Producer Alex Olney, after completing a challenging run of "Balatro" and a playthrough of "The Forest Quartet," found himself at a crossroads for his weekend gaming. He contemplated spending some time with "Halo Infinite" and didn't rule out trying "Penny’s Big Breakaway".

Contributor Kate Gray admitted to being hooked on "Balatro" as well but was also attempting to clear her backlog, which includes "Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood", "Slay the Princess", and "Ace Attorney". Moreover, she expressed excitement for the new season of "Fortnite", themed around myths and monsters.

Gonçalo Lopes, another contributor, faced a financially draining week with several enticing eShop releases. His weekend would be divided between "Lords of Exile", "Xelan Force", "Arzette: The Jewel of Faramore", and "Penny’s Big Breakaway", with a mention of the addictive "Heavenly Bodies". He also praised "Unicorn Overlord" for its captivating gameplay, anticipating it would consume much of his time.

Videographer, Felix Sanchez had embarked on the grand adventure offered by "Dragon Quest XI" and planned to continue his journey over the weekend, experiencing the artistry of the late Akira Toriyama, which enchantingly graced the game’s visual design.

The community then engaged in a poll to share what they'd be playing over the weekend, with options including "Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On!", "Persona 4 Arena Ultimax", and "Xenoblade Chronicles 3". Many diverse games spanning various genres and platforms received attention from the user base.

As gamers worldwide prepared to dive into their preferred experiences, ranging from epic RPGs to nostalgic trips down memory lane, they took a moment to connect and share their anticipations. Whether it was to lose oneself in a tactical battle, race through pixelated landscapes, or face off in a haunting legal thriller, the weekend promised a mosaic of virtual adventures for everyone.
