The latest Xbox Insider update includes improved Discord integration and new mapping options for Elite and Adaptive Controllers, enhancing the gaming experience.

New Xbox Update Enhances Discord and Controller Mapping

Xbox is continually improving its user experience with periodic updates through its Insider program. The recent enhancements focus primarily on integrating Discord more seamlessly and expanding the functionality of certain Xbox controllers.

To begin with the updates on Discord, Xbox now allows players to join direct message voice channels straight from their consoles. This feature further blurs the lines between traditional gaming setups and PCs, offering gamers more flexibility in how they communicate. To access this feature, users simply go to the guide, navigate through Parties & chats, select Discord, and then go into Direct Voice Chats to find a list of available channels. This adjustment aims to streamline the user experience, making it a frictionless process to connect with other players via voice.

Moving on to the controller updates, the Xbox Accessories App has introduced a significant upgrade for users of the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 and the Xbox Adaptive Controller. This update now permits these controllers to map thumbsticks to buttons, keyboards, or even mouse inputs. Specifically, this update allows gamers to use their controllers to control the mouse pointer and execute mouse clicks in games and apps that support these inputs. To use these features, players should open the Xbox Accessories app, choose Configure, and then either create a new profile or modify an existing one. Here, gamers can set their thumbstick to control the mouse and assign various buttons to perform left, right, and middle mouse clicks.
