God of War Ragnarök is the highest-grossing PlayStation Studios game of the PS5 generation so far, based on estimates shared by market-research firm Alinea Analytics. The Norse sequel is estimated to have generated $1.4 billion in gross revenue, putting it narrowly ahead of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 at $1.3 billion.

The ranking covers games released during the current PlayStation generation, but it does not limit its accounting to PS5 sales alone. Several games in the list have reached PC, PS4, or other hardware, meaning the totals reflect the broader commercial life of each title where applicable. Taken together, the ten games in the analysis are estimated to have brought in $6.5 billion.

As with any third-party market estimate, these figures are not official financial results released by Sony. They nevertheless offer a useful snapshot of how PlayStation's biggest premium releases, live-service success stories, and selected partner-published games have performed across the generation.

The estimated top 10

Alinea Analytics' ranking places familiar flagship franchises at the top, while also showing the commercial importance of racing games, smaller-scale family-friendly releases, and a breakout co-op hit.

  1. God of War Ragnarök -- $1.4 billion
  2. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 -- $1.3 billion
  3. Gran Turismo 7 -- $841.9 million
  4. Helldivers 2 -- $786.3 million
  5. Horizon Forbidden West -- $485.8 million
  6. Ghost of Yotei -- $410.1 million
  7. The Last of Us Part I -- $341.3 million
  8. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart -- $334.9 million
  9. Stellar Blade -- $316.9 million
  10. Astro Bot -- $292.6 million

The top two results underline the durable strength of PlayStation's cinematic action franchises. Ragnarök followed 2018's God of War with a conclusion to Kratos and Atreus' Norse storyline, while Spider-Man 2 brought Peter Parker and Miles Morales together in a larger open-world adventure. Their estimated revenue totals are separated by roughly $100 million, a close gap considering their enormous overall sales.

Ragnarök's long-tail sales stand out

The analysis estimates that God of War Ragnarök has sold 21.6 million copies across PS5, PS4, and PC. Of that figure, 20.1 million copies were sold on PlayStation platforms. PS5 represented 75.2% of those PlayStation sales, while 27.5% of the combined PS4 and PS5 sales were physical copies.

Those details reflect the unusual position of Ragnarök within Sony's modern release strategy. It launched across both PS4 and PS5, allowing it to reach a huge installed base during the earlier part of the current generation. It later expanded to PC, adding another audience well after its initial console release.

Its continued momentum is perhaps the most notable element of the estimate. The game reportedly sold 1.1 million copies during 2026 alone, years after its original arrival. That type of sustained demand is why evergreen catalogue games remain valuable to platform holders: they can continue attracting new players through hardware upgrades, PC launches, discount periods, physical retail, and franchise interest generated by later PlayStation releases.

Ragnarök was also added to PlayStation Plus Extra in January 2025. Alinea Analytics estimates that 6.7 million PlayStation Plus users have accessed the game through the subscription service. That availability did not prevent additional purchases from accumulating, illustrating how a premium game can occupy multiple commercial roles over time.

Blockbusters, racing, and a co-op phenomenon

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 taking second place is unsurprising given the scale of the series, though its $1.3 billion estimate leaves it just behind Ragnarök. Gran Turismo 7, meanwhile, demonstrates the enduring reach of Polyphony Digital's racing franchise. Its estimated $841.9 million gross revenue places it well clear of the rest of the list outside the top two.

The fourth-place finish for Helldivers 2 is especially significant. With an estimated $786.3 million in revenue, Arrowhead Game Studios' co-operative shooter became one of PlayStation's defining hits of the generation. Its performance highlights the potential upside of multiplayer games that achieve strong community momentum, particularly when they launch with an audience on both PlayStation and PC.

Horizon Forbidden West is fifth at an estimated $485.8 million. Guerrilla's open-world sequel arrived on PS4 and PS5 before later coming to PC, following the wider approach Sony has taken with several of its major single-player games. Its position behind Helldivers 2, but comfortably ahead of the lower half of the ranking, shows that the Horizon series remains one of the company's most important modern properties.

Ghost of Yotei and recent momentum

Ghost of Yotei takes sixth with estimated gross revenue of $410.1 million. The PS5 exclusive is said to have sold 5.5 million copies as of the latest update. Its recent Echoes of Sekigahara expansion has contributed to its performance, helping maintain attention after launch.

The result places Ghost of Yotei in a competitive segment of the chart, ahead of The Last of Us Part I, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Stellar Blade, and Astro Bot. The ranking also emphasizes that PlayStation's catalogue does not rely exclusively on its biggest legacy names. Newer series and more specialized games can still make a substantial financial contribution when they connect with audiences.

The Last of Us Part I generated an estimated $341.3 million, while Rift Apart reached an estimated $334.9 million. Both games have distinct roles within PlayStation's portfolio: one is a premium remake of a defining narrative adventure, while the other is a technically ambitious platforming showcase built around PS5 hardware. Their close totals suggest there is room for different scales and styles of single-player releases within the same publishing operation.

Stellar Blade shows the value of a cross-platform audience

Stellar Blade is ninth at an estimated $316.9 million. It is a second-party release published under the PlayStation Studios banner rather than a game developed by one of Sony's internal teams. Its sales breakdown is notable because it spans PS5 and Steam, with 59.7% of revenue attributed to PS5 and 40.3% attributed to Steam.

That split offers another example of PC's growing role in PlayStation's broader business. A Steam audience can materially expand a game's reach without replacing the importance of console sales. In Stellar Blade's case, the PC contribution accounts for a substantial share of estimated revenue. A Nintendo Switch 2 version launched on November 5, though that release was not part of the PS5-and-Steam breakdown cited in the analysis.

Astro Bot rounds out the top ten at $292.6 million. Unlike many of the other games listed, it is a PS5 exclusive, meaning its total came solely from that platform. The estimate attributes its revenue to 4.7 million copies sold. That result is a strong reminder that a focused, platform-exclusive game can still find a large audience even without a simultaneous PC edition or a release on previous-generation hardware.

What the figures suggest for PlayStation

The estimated $6.5 billion generated by these ten games illustrates the breadth of PlayStation's current publishing strategy. Big-budget sequels such as God of War Ragnarök, Spider-Man 2, and Horizon Forbidden West remain central. At the same time, Helldivers 2 shows the impact a multiplayer breakout can have, Gran Turismo 7 reinforces the reliability of long-running simulation brands, and Astro Bot demonstrates continued demand for polished platformers.

There is also a clear pattern in the platform data. PS5 is still the core market for PlayStation Studios releases, but PS4 compatibility helped games such as Ragnarök reach more players during the generational transition. PC releases provide another meaningful revenue stream, particularly for games with enough longevity to benefit from a later launch. Physical retail continues to represent a meaningful share of console demand as well.

These estimates should be viewed as an analytical model rather than a substitute for Sony's own reporting. Gross revenue is not the same as profit, and it does not account for development budgets, marketing costs, platform fees, discounts, subscription arrangements, or revenue-sharing agreements. Even so, the ranking provides a revealing look at which PlayStation-published games have generated the most consumer spending during the PS5 era.

For now, Kratos and Atreus remain at the summit. Ragnarök's combination of blockbuster launch sales, cross-generation availability, a PC release, and unusually durable catalogue performance has made it the estimated revenue leader among PlayStation Studios games of this generation.
