These servers ensure that players can connect and compete with minimal latency, making the racing experience as smooth as possible. Moreover, the mod also offers options for creating private lobbies. This can be done over LAN, which is perfect for friends who want to set up their own local tournaments, or through local host connections, enabling players to compete in a more closed and controlled environment.

Players can select their preferred racer and circuit without needing to complete the game's original unlocking requirements, which often took considerable time and effort. Darkaiser described this mod as “the #1 longest-running mod in the entire history of CTR modding” and credited it as the original inspiration for their efforts in decompiling the game's code. Despite the major strides already made, the trailer also hints at future updates, suggesting that this initial release is just the beginning of ongoing improvements and additional features.

To access this mod, players are required to have their own copy of Crash Team Racing and the PlayStation emulator Duckstation. After setting up these necessities, players should join the OnlineCTR Discord server. This community hub is not only the place to download the necessary patch but also serves as a platform for organizing races, sharing experiences, and even reporting any bugs encountered, contributing to the continuous refinement of the mod.
