New update introduces Lovecraft-inspired Dredge DLC to the Switch game, Dave The Diver, featuring foggy weather, a boat and new sea creatures.

Dave The Diver's Exciting Dredge DLC Launch

The world of underwater adventure and restaurant management has just gotten a substantial update with the release of the Dredge DLC for the game Dave The Diver. Merging exploration with a touch of Lovecraftian horror, this update promised and delivered a spooky new experience for players when it premiered on the Nintendo Switch.

Dave The Diver combines the thrills of exploring aquatic depths with the unique challenges of running a sushi restaurant. The game casts players as Dave, an intrepid diver who seeks out the most exotic and sometimes menacing creatures from the deep to serve up in his establishment. It's an intriguing hybrid of gaming genres that caught the attention of many players with its original release.

The Dredge DLC, a collaborative addon that nods to the similarly eerie game "The Dredge," was initially announced at The Game Awards. It has finally set sail and is steering players towards new content that dives deeper into the game’s dark and mysterious world. With the update ver. 1.0.0.511, a host of fresh features float to the surface.

Let's start by peering through the fog of the new weather system, designed to set a chilling stage for the update. During foggy nights at the Blue Hole, a new non-player character known to the game's locals as the 'Traveling Merchant' will make an appearance. This encounter won't happen immediately, however. Players must bide their time, with several in-game days passing after opening the Chicken Farm before they can experience these fog-laden nights.

A significant addition in this update is the ability for players to take control of Dave’s boat. On these eerie evenings shrouded in mist, players can navigate the boat around the Blue Hole. The introduction of the Dredge System, which is the centerpiece of this DLC, allows for dredging at specific locations to uncover various items—presumably including ingredients necessary for novel sushi creations.

Dave also gains access to three new diving locations, ready for exploration only during the shadowy cloak of foggy nights. Here, a plethora of aberrant fish awaits, each location hosting a different array of these unusual creatures. Bound to add a thrilling twist to the underwater segments of the game, these new foes will certainly spice up the restaurant menu as well as the diving experience.

Luckily, players aren't left unarmed against these creatures. The update adds the Drain Gun, a new weapon obtainable through the DLC, to assist in these deep-sea encounters. As for the restaurant management side of things, the DLC also introduces new customers known as Hooded Figures, who are particularly interested in dishes prepared from aberrant fish. Those looking to experience this new content must download the Dredge DLC, which is now available alongside the update.
