Choosing to self-publish, the company believed it could capitalize more efficiently on its existing infrastructure while retaining more control and a larger share of the proceeds from the game's sales. Unlike Shift Up, developers of Stellar Blade who lacked a publishing division and signed with Sony, Pearl Abyss felt well-equipped to handle the publication tasks themselves.

Crimson Desert has already completed its development for PC and is now in the process of being optimized for PS5. The game, which draws comparisons in ambiance to acclaimed titles like Ghost of Tsushima, is anticipated to sell between three and four million units. The developers are optimistic that these figures could climb even higher.
