The actor behind Final Fantasy 16's main man, Clive, recently bared his saving relics from PlayStation 1 & 2 games, getting the internet all abuzz.

Clive from Final Fantasy 16 Shares his Gaming Nostalgia

Unless you're new to planet Earth or have spent the past few years under an immovable boulder, you'd know that Final Fantasy 16's central dude is a guy named Clive. And just like cherry on top, the actor who brings him to life, Ben Starr, is quite the gaming historian himself. He recently flexed his collection of ancient PlayStation memory cards on Twitter, causing a wave of video game nostalgia that surely left fans misty-eyed.

In a time when cloud storage was just a metaphor for daydreaming, these memory cards were the holy grail of gaming progress. Flanked by these little plastic relics, Starr posted a picture with a caption that said, "These memory cards have my original saves from FFVI, FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX, FFX, and FFXII," adding, "I’ve never let them go." It’s like keeping old love letters except, they are tiny, plastic, and square.

The actor seems to have a special place in his heart for the Final Fantasy 6 version, surviving through its painfully long load times and peculiarly weird music. Can you spell D-E-V-O-T-I-O-N?

But the vintage memory cards are not the only ways Starr shows his devotion to the series. Last week, he posted another photo of himself posing with a version of the Lightning's gunblade from the series' black sheep, Final Fantasy 13. He teased, "Fancy a stiff drink and quick chat about why FFXIII’s stagger system is a modern marvel?" Clearly, he knows how to mix hard liquor with hard gaming facts.

Speculation has it that Starr's casting in Final Fantasy 16 was a stroke of destiny, orchestrated by some sort of a magical crystal. Despite not initially wanting to audition, due to life's tumultuous challenges, it seems that the universe had other plans. Somewhere down the line, it seems that the series’ crystal dust dropped on this long-time fan. In other Starr news, he's pretty clued up to the fans' admiration for Clive's derriere, wryly stating, "I have watched you all pause the game, I have watched you all screengrab pictures of his crotch to your thousands and thousands of viewers."

Our review of Final Fantasy 16 reveals it to be a gem in the action JRPG world. But PC nerds would need to harness some patience as the PC port was only recently announced along with two paid DLCs. Xbox enthusiasts are left hanging with no definite announcement, but there’s a random assurance from Phil Spencer that we'd "hear more" about future installment appearing on the console. The next in line? Final Fantasy Rebirth, which is gearing up to continue the remake trilogy early next year. Strap in, folks, it's going to be quite a ride!
