Link is back from his adventures in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and this time he's picked up the Wii Zapper to take aim at a whole new set of targets. In Link's Crossbow Training, players can channel their inner marksman and become a master shooter in the quick-play shooting galleries.
The game offers dozens of fast-paced stages that offer a wide variety of gameplay. From shooting stationary targets to defending a supply wagon from onrushing hordes of enemies, every stage presents a unique challenge. But don't worry, multiplayer modes are available too, so players can grab their friends and compete for the high score together.
What's great about Link's Crossbow Training is that it comes bundled with the Wii Zapper. So, after a few rounds of target practice with Link, players will be more than ready to pick up any of the future Wii Zapper titles, such as Medal of Honor Heroes 2, Ghost Squad, and Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles.
The game features three basic game styles: target shooting, defender, and ranger. In the target shooting rounds, players must shoot bull's-eyes as they pop up on the screen. Starting with stationary targets, the game becomes increasingly challenging as the targets begin to move. Hitting the center of the bull's-eye earns more points, and hitting targets in succession without missing earns combo multipliers. Link can aim anywhere on the screen, giving players the freedom to shoot with precision.
In defender rounds, players stay stationary but can look and aim in all directions, sometimes even a full 360 degrees, by aiming off-screen. In these rounds, hordes of enemies assault Link, and it's up to players to fight them off. From battling skeletons in a desert to defending a wagon from boar-riding Bokoblins, these rounds offer a great deal of variety and excitement.
Ranger rounds, on the other hand, allow players to move throughout the level using the control stick while aiming the Wii Zapper wherever they want to look. Link storms enemy encampments, fights his way through forests, and seeks out enemies while exploring the environments. The freedom of movement adds a new level of immersion to the game, making players feel like they are truly in the action.
To play Link's Crossbow Training, players will need the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. The Wii Zapper conveniently houses both controllers in a comfortable and intuitive frame. The control stick on the Nunchuk controls player movement in stages that allow it, while aiming the Wii Zapper moves the targeting reticule on the screen. Pulling the trigger fires Link's crossbow, allowing players to take down enemies with precision. And by aiming off-screen, players can turn Link to face in a new direction, adding even more versatility to gameplay.
So, whether you're a Zelda fan looking for a new way to experience the world of Hyrule or just someone who wants to have some fun with a shooting-gallery-style game, Link's Crossbow Training is sure to hit the mark. Grab your Wii Zapper, take aim, and let the adventure begin!
